For more than 120 years, Walford has been regarded as one of Adelaide’s leading all-girls private schools. Walford offers a friendly, family-orientated environment where each student is encouraged to be the best she can be. We were engaged by Walford to collaborate with their internal marketing team to strategically plan, design and develop a comprehensive website to reflect the school’s reputation for excellence.
With so much to offer across its senior, middle and junior schools, early learning centre, sporting and musical programs and more, we embraced the trend of a long-scrolling website homepage. The homepage provides all important information and a full navigational system above its fold, but provides the opportunity for visitors to take a journey by scrolling down the page and experiencing a highlight of all the school has to offer.
The website has been developed using a content management system (CMS) allowing the client to manage all key content throughout the website in-house. The website is comprised of more than 50 information pages, seamlessly structured within six top level sections and supported by Google-powered search functionality. The website additionally includes ecommerce functionality allowing donations to be made to the school directly through the website using a credit card.
With a sprawling campus tucked away in the quiet eastern suburbs, we custom-developed an interactive map for Walford highlighting more than a dozen key facilities throughout the school precinct – including the school’s visitor reception, sports centre, chapel and more.
With community and communication of major importance to Walford, the news section of the website was given special attention. With different news updates relating to different audiences within the school, we developed categories for “All News”, “Junior School”, “Middle School” and “Senior School”. Around this, we developed filtering functionality allowing visitors to find news that’s most relevant to them at the click of a button. This news system has further been integrated with Walford’s email marketing platform, allowing news to be seamlessly pushed to the school community via email.
The website follows best practice responsive principles to deliver an optimised viewing experience across a full range of desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
